“Zhao Lusi Breaks Silence: Health Crisis and Legal Battle with Management Company”
Beijing, China – Popular Chinese actress Zhao Lusi, best known for her leading roles in Hidden Love and Who Rules the World, has publicly revealed the full extent of her ongoing health and legal crisis, sending shockwaves throughout the entertainment industry and among fans worldwide.
In a heartbreaking post on August 1, Zhao Lusi accused her former agency, Galaxy Kuyu Entertainment, of severe exploitation, financial mismanagement, and psychological abuse—allegations that date back years but escalated in late 2024. According to Zhao, she was overworked to the point of collapse, with symptoms later diagnosed as Dissociative Conversion Disorder, a condition that affected her memory, speech, and mobility.
---> "I was in constant pain, mentally and physically," Zhao shared. "They took my money, disbanded my studio, and threatened to blacklist me if I spoke out."
During her emotional statement, Zhao claimed that over RMB 2 million was withdrawn from her personal studio account without her approval. She also said her team was dismantled behind her back while she was hospitalized and that she was coerced into continuing projects despite severe illness.
In January 2025, Zhao confirmed she had been battling depression for years. She disappeared from public appearances, including the annual Weibo Night, sparking speculation about her well-being. In March, she made a brief appearance on the variety show Be Myself, revealing that side effects of her medication—including memory loss—make it impossible for her to return to acting for the foreseeable future.
Zhao’s sudden declaration of “I quit” has fueled an online movement, with hashtags like #JusticeForZhaoLusi and #FreeZhaoLusi dominating Chinese and international social media platforms. Fans and fellow artists have expressed support, calling for increased protection for artists’ mental health and better oversight of entertainment agencies.
While Galaxy Kuyu Entertainment has yet to issue a formal statement in response to the most recent allegations, public pressure is mounting.
As Zhao Lusi continues her recovery, she remains absent from upcoming drama productions, including the much-anticipated Almost Lover, which remains unfinished. Legal experts suggest the dispute may end up in court unless a full settlement is reached.
